OK, really people, I can make some really difficult, artistic knitting items. I can entrelac, I can do about any cable, I can fair isle... Someone please believe me, because I keep getting requests for the mugs! I like these, but they're just a stash buster, and a teacher gift. I really don't want to die and have what anyone remembers about me be mug cozies and water bottle holders. I'm happy to have done them, I hope the teachers like them. Now I'm going to work out the slipper sock that didn't work two days ago. Knit in is tonight, yeah!

Knitting/Crochet this summer

I am feeling like I am not accomplishing much knitting right now. I'm stalled on the Pomatomus, they take a lot of concentration. I am almost done with my first market bag, crochet. I did 2 mesh water bottle holders last week. So I have been making things. I just don't feel that for me crochet is as creative. I know, it's terrible. Just my opinion. So, I am going to cut myself a break, and I am going to make market bage, because I'm enjoying it, I need them, and I have the yarn laying in stash to do them. So I oficially have permission from myself to do them. Also I need to make another mug cozy for a giveaway over at http://www.yarnsoftheheart.com/

The other thing I am concentrating on that is taking away from my knitting is cooking. I am buying a lot of fresh food and want to can more, and cook more, not have so much packaged junk around. So I'm trying to spend more time cooking. If I'm cooking, and going to the pool, and taking kids to pottery and band, and blogging, I'm not knitting. I will, someday.

Sorry for the bad photos. The two to the right are leftover Noro, and the left two are some Duet sock yarn ( insert A Swell Yarn Shop plug here!). I gave these 4 away at school today. Nothing like a 97* day to make people want a nice cup of hot tea!

Last day of school!

So it is the last day, and a half day too. None of the kids will be back to this school, youngest is going to TKA, and the next 2 are to be homeschooled. This mug cozy is for the youngest's teacher. She also had the next one up last year. It's in Eagle's green/blue. I did one already but decided I didn't like it. Now I just need to make 5 or so for the other school. Thise teachers teach kids too old for gift giving, but they're more friends of mine.

New knitting! About time.

These are the first of my teacher's gifts this year. I bought blueberry pomegranate tea to put in them, and made small gift tags with a tea thank you poem on it. The upper left picture is the one for my 2nd grader's teacher. She is an Eagles fan, so it's done in the team colors. Nice small projects, stash used, and lots of creativity. I love the solid orange one also, it's a stitch called Indian Cross Stitch from Barbara Walker's Treasury. Fun, and easier than it looks.

Teacher's gifts

So I decided the other day that I would make the teacher's gifts this year, as I have enough yarn in my possession to re-insulate my house. I was in the Salvation Army Store on Thursday, and found some plain white tea cups, the industrial sort, for $.49. I bought all that I could. I'm remembering the Garter Mug Cozies by Cathy Carron in IP. I have finished 2, one is a fun 3 color check, one is in Indian Cross Stitch. Photos tomorrow, too late tonight. But they are turning out nicely. I also made a card to tie onto the gift bag, and bought some special tea to go with them. So I hope they pull together nicely.
We have been busy, a lot of events to go to this time of year. Last night we went to the Relay For Life in Kutztown, and we won a raffle that had 4 Six Flags tickets in it! So Husband can take the younger boys. It's in New Jersey, but my older ones went there last year and had a blast.
On the knitting front I am fairly disgusted, all 3 projects have to be frogged back to some degree. But this week will go better. That's my optomistic self who rarely comes out.
