God, is the yarn never going to run out?
I do the love Touch Of Whimsey Scarf, but I have done 27 repeats already, and I am getting anxious to soak and block it, and finally see the full effect of the whole thing. The skein is 237 yds or so, and it feels wonderful to work with. It just seems there is no end to the stuff! I'll probably get about 36 or so repeats out of it. It will make it nice and long, able to maybe wrap around a couple of times. It's very bunched up right now, once it's blocked I think it will look much better. The photo below that shows soeone else's work seems to be with maybe a smoother yarn and a smaller needle used. You can see the stitch definition better. But that's ok, again, once it's blocked it will all even out.

Whimsey Scarf Progress
So here it is, my Whimsey Scarf. It's hard to get the color right with a camera, it is better in person.
This is 5 repeats. The start was a bit rocky, but it'll block out, I think.

New Technique
Well, tonight I began the Touch Of Whimsy Scarf (above example NOT my work) by Whimsical Knitting Designs. I'm using green (with very subtle shading) AraucaniaWool. It has turned out so far so good, except I can never seem to get the hang of the whole "cabling without a cable needle" thing. It's not that hard, really, it's just that I do tend to get confused as to which way to grab, from the front or the back, and then certain cables end up going the wrong way. It's not a very wide scarf, but blocked it's going to be quite pretty. I'll need to soak it to soften it. OK- so what I really wanted to say is that I tried a new technique- the i-cord cast-on. Here's a link. It was easy and made a nice looking edging. Try it!
