Yesterday was the first day of school for 3 of my kids, the ones who go to the private Christian school. They all trotted down the street together to the bus stop. My youngest hasn't attended there yet, but has been around and knows a few people. He is friends with everyone he meets anyway. He did do well, his older brother made sure he knew where to go. I couldn't resist and ran in at recess time to peek at him. His teacher said to just come around and chat with her and he saw me anyway. She seemed quite tired from all the anticipation on the first day and the work that goes with it. So everything went fine with all 3. The oldest is happy because we put him in for 2 computer classes, forget the Spanish. Today is chapel so they had to wear their white shirts and ties. They looked like nice young Mormon boys (which they are not for anyone who doesn't know). The youngest absolutely LOVES to dress up, so we're good with that. Husband is around, and I'm told that my oldest son still lives here, I did catch a glimpse of him last night around 3 am, I think. I hear he'll be home tonight.
The homeschooling is going well, but very different from how it use to be. I use to have several toddlers around when schooling the older ones, so it wasn't my main focus. Now it is, and I'm finding that I'm not so much of an unschooler any more. We're just doing what we're comfortable with at this point, we are all being productive. It's World War one for us, going to present time, and fractions, and the science of the time period. Very exciting.
I have to say more exciting than having surgery to put a pin in your hand though. My brother in law was in a very serious accident about 2 weeks ago and is having surgery today to fix up his left hand. He feels awful because he has very bad Fibromyalgia and this has sent that out of control. So I have no complaints here.
I'm almost done with a very nice Jacob's Ladder scarf, which 2 people have already fought over, and husband won out. Next I need to swatch for a pair of fair isle mittens.
